Surinder Singh Jangira
I am Surinder Singh Jangira and am working as an IT Consultant. I have been riding since September 2015 and am still going strong and following my passion.
I ride a RE Classic 350 (2013 model) and since last year am a proud owner of Himalayan (2019).
My most memorable rides have been to:
- Pune – Spiti – Pune in June 2018 covering Killar-Kishtwar’s Cliffhanger route and a ride to Sach Pass
which had all the elements one could ask for – slippery surface, water crossings, steep slopes. It tested the endurance of both bike and the rider. - Pune – Ladakh – Pune in June 2019. One has to experience it oneself to believe the scenic beauty enroute Hanle, Tso Moriri and Suru Valley. I had an opportunity to ride alongside many seasoned riders who made the journey even more enjoyable.
- Apart from these long distances have done Konkan parikrama (coastal roads), Pune to Melghat Tiger Reserve, Lonar crater and many rides around Pune covering ghats & off-roads.
What I take away from riding is a sense of freedom and being with oneself, it makes me calm after a week of hectic work schedules and gives time to introspect. Apart from that each ride teaches you something, allows you to push your boundaries to become a better rider and boosts your confidence. Constantly increasing your skills is what makes the ride even more enjoyable.
My advice to new riders would be to follow your passion, follow a disciplined approach and don’t let your dream fizzle out or give up easily. You have one life, use the time wisely. Don’t regret later.
For me it’s always been a simple philosophy – “IT’S NOW OR NEVER.”
